Do you enjoy working with families and youth? If so, you could be a perfect fit for our PROSPER Northeast Regional facilitator training for the Strengthening Families Program: for Parents and Youth 10-14 (SFP: 10-14) coming up on July 26th-28th in Tunkhannock!
This highly-interactive, 3-day training introduces participants to SFP: 10-14 and gives future facilitators all the tools they need to successfully deliver the program in PROSPER communities on their schedule. SFP: 10-14 is a seven-week skill-building program where parents and youth meet with their respective facilitators for the first hour to learn relevant topics and then are reunited for the second hour to participate in family activities designed to build long-lasting family bonds.
Our facilitators are a vital component to the success of the SFP: 10-14 curriculum and can be from any background. Some of the tools that are helpful for facilitators to have include:
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills
- Experience working parents/caregivers and/or youth
- Ability to be flexible with individuals and activities
- Enthusiasm for family skill building programs
Program Requirements: For the SFP: 10-14 weekly sessions, we ask facilitators be on-site for 3 hours to set up, welcome families and deliver the program. Our programs are typically held in the fall and spring and facilitators will be compensated for four hours every week. All facilitators must complete the Penn State employee online applications and provide proof of clearances for working with youth prior to teaching a session. Our PROSPER Team Leaders will walk you through the hiring process to set you up for success.
Everyone is busy these days and we understand! Our PROSPER Team Leaders are willing to work with your schedule to make teaching as convenient as we can within program guidelines. By expanding our current network of trained facilitators, we are building in flexibility for everyone who assists us in delivering the program.
