PROSPER in Pike County
The Wallenpaupack Area School District is located in the Pocono Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The school district is located in a predominately rural setting, drawing its student from a 325 square mile area of Wayne and Pike counties. The Wallenpaupack Area School District was formed in July, 1961. District enrollment is currently approximately 3,500 students. LifeSkills Training Program Curriculum is delivered to middle school students grade 6-8 in WASD. The Strengthening Families Program: for Parents and Youth 10-14 (SFP 10-14) is offered in both the fall and spring at the Wallenpaupack Middle School, and a spring session is offered at the South Elementary School.
For parents and youth ages 10-14 in WASD, SFP 10-14 is an exciting opportunity for families as it affords them a chance to spend quality time together while learning new skills through games and interactive projects. For 7 weeks, parents and youth attend a weekly 2 hour session where they will have lots of fun learning ways to promote family bonding, to keep lines of family communication open, and to use their families’ strengths to solve problems together.
The Strengthening Families Programs: for Parents and Youth 10-14 will begin February 4th at the South Elementary School and March 5th at the Wallenpaupack Middle School.
LifeSkills Training is run continually throughout the school year as a PE/Health rotation.
