The Hazleton Area School District is a large, rural public school district in Pennsylvania, stretching across portions of Luzerne, Schuylkill, and Carbon Counties. School enrollment is 12,243 in 2023-2024 school year. The Hazleton PROSPER programs currently offered in the school district are the ‘Familias Unidas’ and ‘Too Good For Drugs’ programs. Familias Unidas is an evidence-based, family skill building program focusing on Latinx adolescents, ages 12-16 and their families. Familias Unidas provides families with the strategies and skills necessary to strengthen the relationship and communication with their teens. It empowers parents to effectively address the risks that adolescents face every day in schools and in the community.
